Come to the blue side!

Fuente: Visible Earth. A catalog of NASA images. http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/

We live in a blue planet. This is something that everybody knows, especially since we had the first images of the Earth from the space. Besides, I don’t say anything new if I add that we live in a blue planet because the oceans cover over seventy percent of its surface. However, and that is one of the reasons to begin this blog, how many oceanographers do you know? And those who know an oceanographer, do you really know what he/she does? That is my second reason.

I have realized that part of my family and most of my friends, of course not those working also in oceanography, don’t know what I do. I’m not worried about it because…I will bore them if I tell them everything, but because I think that nowadays it’s necessary that scientist not only fulfill with their task of improving the knowledge of all of us. Today, scientists also must try to communicate their results to the society. Directly, this is the best way in which society can know the result of our work and understand why it is necessary. I leave it for the next.

For english native speakers P.D: I'm sorry if my English is not entirely correct, but I'm sure it will improve with time.
